Frequently Asked Questions
Rarely is there just one path. I make a point of carefully listening to your concerns and then recommending the specific treatment you actually need, not a one-size-fits-all plan. Dental implants are a good example: a single implant can replace one missing tooth, or several can be placed together to restore many. And not every case even calls for surgery; with wisdom teeth, for instance, not all of them require removal. We’ll walk through your options together at your consultation.
That depends on your diagnosis, and it’s worth getting right. With wisdom teeth, earlier is often easier, and removal in the late teens to early twenties tends to mean a more rapid, comfortable recovery. With something like TMJ, I examine you thoroughly first to decide whether a surgical procedure would truly help or whether a more conservative approach makes more sense. The right time is the one that fits your situation, and that begins with an evaluation.
Most procedures are performed right here in our Midtown Manhattan office, near Rockefeller Center and just a few blocks from Grand Central, easy to reach from uptown, downtown, New Jersey, and Connecticut. For more complex cases, such as major facial trauma, care is provided in a hospital setting. We’ll tell you exactly where your procedure will take place as we plan your treatment.
Yes. My commitment is to your care before, during, and after your surgical treatment. The procedure itself is only one part of it. Your surgery is a responsibility I take seriously, and you’ll always have a direct way to reach our office with any questions as you recover.
I practice an evidence-based surgical approach, using techniques and materials that have been thoroughly studied and tested, combined with the highest-quality materials and state-of-the-art technology. Just as importantly, I treat one patient at a time and on time, in an unhurried, relaxed atmosphere. That focus and attention is a real part of how I keep your care safe and precise.
You can reach our office directly at (212) 696-0167. My care doesn’t end when the procedure does, it continues before, during, and after your treatment, so if a question or concern comes up while you’re recovering, we want to hear from you.
Yes. I’m Dr. Robert M. Dolman, DDS, MSc, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and implant specialist. That certification reflects the rigorous standards of the specialty, and it’s the foundation of the precise, evidence-based care I provide to every patient.
We look forward to caring for you.
